Creating a Blog......

Welcome to the first Krafty Kitty blog. After 4 hours and 3 diet Cherry Dr. Peppers, "By Jove, I think I've got it!" Needless to say it was NOT as painful as I expected it to be. Time consuming, yes, but I do so hope the hard part is over. As this is a blog on creating and crafting, this is appropriate for the first post. One important thing to know is how to spell correctly. It is a good idea if starting a blog is to have a dictionary that you can easily use. I have found a most wonderful online dictionary that even has sound so if a word just doesn't look right, then this dictionary will pronounce it! The link is http://dictionary.reference.com/ and has much more than just a dictionary. Check it out and see! I do suggest if starting or rather creating (have to get that word in as it is a blog on creating and crafting) is to make sure you have plenty of time to read and understand all the techo "stuff" that goes along with publishing blogs. As I am in "the dark ages" when it come to things as such but I found that Google has the most user friendly application for this. Everything is very easy to understand and there are links to every possible question that you might have and some that you might not have thought of!
Now so much for that and on to what this blog is about. I am an avid collector of vintage "stuff." Vintage lingerie is one of my passions. The styles in the 50's and 60's were very feminine as the "bra burner"' had not yet come about. In other words many women in that time era were still "stay at home Moms" and their "unmentionables" were very feminine. They wore nightgowns that graced the floor with matching robes full of lace and ribbons. These night gowns or peignoirs were a direct contrast to the girdles and "bullet" bras that were worn during the day. My thoughts are that after a day of wearing constrictive undergarments it had to have been wonderful to slip into a soft and silky flowing nightgown. Some called these type of nightgowns, "goddess" gowns and the truly did make a women look the part. Well, I go to auctions and buy a lot of "box lots" where there is a huge box that is crammed with all kinds of goodies. From these I get a lot of vintage clothing. All the clothing will need to be cleaned. This is where I check each piece to see if it is good enough to sell or if it is a "throw away." Today while going through a box I found the most beautiful little nightgown. It has an under gown of soft nylon with an over gown of sheer fabric. The upper part at the neck line has the most beautiful embroidery that is bright yellow but the bottom from about thigh area to the bottom hem was ripped and badly stained. I just did not have the heart to throw it away so I decided to make it into a "babydoll" nighty. I cut off all the torn part and was able to have enough of the sheer fabric to make a pair of panties to match. My scissors were not cutting right and kept snagging on the fabric. Upon closer inspection I seen there were nicks on my scissors. To cut this short, ( a little pun on words) I found out that my darling son had used my $50.00 scissors to cut the strings on his guitar! So I had to stop working on the nighty as I had to go and buy another pair of scissors. Well, I will stop for now and tomorrow we will explore the world of scissors and my great scissor hunt that I had.
